Sculpture 'Venus with the Apple' by sculptor Kai Nielsen (1882-1924).
Venus with the Apple" was first produced in 1918 as a preliminary study for a bronze sculpture, which along with a number of other Kai Nielsen sculptures, would decorate a newly landscaped park in Copenhagen. The park and the sculptures still exist today. In 1922 Kai Nielsen worked for some months at the Kähler factory in order to develop and produce terracotta figurines in a smaller size that could fit into private homes. Kahler produced approx 20 sculptures, of which "Venus with the Apple" is one of the most prized and sought after.
