A superb and rare stoneware chamotte fish figurine designed by the iconic Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) for Rörstrand in Sweden.
This charming piece represents an early work from the beginning of Nylund's influential career at Rörstrand (c. 1931-1955). The use of chamotte (rough, grog-filled clay) and a decorative glaze, often in vibrant colors, is typical of his Art Deco-era animal figures from the Lidköping factory period.
This fish sculpture has a stylized, yet organic form, capturing the essence of Scandinavian Art Pottery from the 1930s. The texture and hand-applied glaze make it a tactile and visually rich addition to any collection.
