Dybdahl Ceramics: Playful Mid-Century Danish Design

This delightful piece is from the highly collectible Dybdahl Ceramics studio, founded in 1952 by Margrethe and Palle Dybdahl in Allerød, Denmark. The studio is celebrated for its distinctive utility and decorative items that incorporate whimsical, nature-inspired motifs.

Design and Functionality

The handpainted design features an abstract feather pattern in vibrant blue and yellow, a clear nod to the Dybdahl's adoration for bird motifs. The substantial, rectangular form is finished with a sophisticated matte glaze. Crucially, the base is marked "Ovnfast", indicating it was originally designed to be ovenproof, making this piece both a beautiful collectible and a durable item of utility ware.

Authentication and Provenance

The base is signed: Dybdahl Denmark Ovnfast 5 72. The number '72' likely dates this particular piece to 1972. It is in excellent vintage condition, preserving the original artistry and integrity of the piece.
