A striking, one-of-a-kind studio stoneware bowl designed and hand-decorated by the Danish master ceramist Gerd Bøgelund (1923-1987) for Royal Copenhagen, Denmark, and dated 1969.
This piece is a true example of high-quality Scandinavian Art Pottery. The bowl features a shallow, wide form decorated with a mesmerizing incised pattern under a deep, painterly glaze palette of red-brown, ochre, and earthy tones. The combination of texture and layered color makes this a standout piece of Mid-Century Modern decor.
Bøgelund was a pivotal artist-in-residence at Royal Copenhagen, returning to the factory in 1946 to focus on her unique, hand-thrown stoneware pieces. Her work is celebrated for its organic forms and sophisticated glazes, and pieces marked with her monogram are highly collectible.
Maker's Mark: Signed on the base with the Royal Copenhagen mark (three wavy lines), the artist's monogram GB, and the date 1969.
