Rare Tall Gunnar Nylund Chamotte Stoneware Vase for Nymolle, Denmark
An outstanding and imposing example of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design by the legendary artist Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) for the Danish pottery studio Nymolle.
This rare vase is characterized by its use of Chamotte—a coarse, grogged clay that gives the stoneware a wonderfully rugged, textured surface.
The piece is finished in a rich, speckled green glaze, typical of the "brutalist" aesthetic popular in the 1960s. Its tall, slender form (13 inches}) makes it a striking statement piece.
Nylund's work for Nymolle is highly collectible, representing his commitment to robust, tactile materials and clean, architectural forms.
