An exceptional and imposing Art Deco Stoneware Vase designed by the master ceramicist Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden.
This piece is a remarkable example of Nylund's early work, featuring a complex design that uses the rugged chamotte clay body as its canvas. The exterior is masterfully decorated with a fluted or shell-like texture, giving the vase a pronounced sculptural quality.
The piece is finished in a magnificent oxblood glaze—a highly sought-after, deep red/purplish glaze achieved through high-fire reduction. The combination of the textured chamotte, the sculptural form, and the dramatic glaze makes this vase a true statement piece of Scandinavian Art Pottery from the 1930s.
