A sophisticated and substantial Knud Basse Bear Figurine, meticulously handcrafted in stoneware at the artist’s personal studio in Denmark.

This impressive figurine depicts a pair of bear cubs, showcasing Basse's (1916-1991) mastery of refined form. Unlike more rugged stoneware of the period, this piece features smooth sculptural planes and a lustrous, deep brown glaze that highlights the elegant silhouettes of the animals.

While Knud Basse is a household name in Scandinavian animal sculpture, this piece represents his independent studio period. Authenticated with his incised monogram, it offers a level of artistic detail found only in his personal studio work. At 6 inches tall, this is the sought-after large-scale version of this iconic motif.
