A spectacular and historically important Mette Doller Höganäs Bowl, designed during the artist's seminal period at Andersson & Johansson (A&J) in Sweden between 1953 and 1955.
This large-scale dish serves as a wall-hanging work of art, featuring a refined modernist decoration in a striking palette of deep blue and mint green.
Mette Doller (b. 1925) was a pupil of the iconic Danish potter Gutte Eriksen, and she brought that sophisticated "Studio Pottery" sensibility to the Swedish industrial workshop. Her work transformed the factory's reputation, gaining her international acclaim for pieces precisely like this one.
Because her stay at A&J was so brief, these large, artist-designed dishes are incredibly scarce. They represent the perfect fusion of Danish artistic training and Swedish manufacturing excellence.
