Rare Art Deco bowl from the esteemed Michael Andersen & Søn factory on the island of Bornholm, Denmark.
This piece features a striking and highly collectible Oxblood glaze, a challenging copper-red glaze technique that demonstrates the factory's advanced skill during the inter-war period.
Maker & History:
Established in 1890, the Michael Andersen factory rose to prominence under the artistic direction of Daniel Andersen, son of the founder. Daniel, inspired by European art centers like Vienna, pushed the factory's technical boundaries. This era culminated in the development of the famous Persia technique glaze, which won the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1935. This Oxblood glaze piece is characteristic of the innovative glazes from this highly prized period.
