The Legacy of Pierre d'Avesn

Pierre d'Avesn began his legendary career at the age of 14 at René Lalique, where he worked for 11 years and famously designed the "Serrurier" vase. His pedigree is a "who's who" of French glass history:

  • 1926–1930: Private commissions for Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy.

  • 1930–1936: Director of molded glass at Daum Frères.

  • 1937–1940: Lead designer at Verlys.

  • 1940–Post-War: Artistic director for Cristallerie de Choisy-le-Roi (under the Sèvres umbrella).

D'Avesn’s work is characterized by a "modernist luxury"—utilizing the industrial technique of pressed glass to create objects of high-art status. This mint green bowl is a testament to that vision, offering a perfect balance of utility and sculptural beauty.
