A beautiful Mid-Century Modern studio stoneware vase designed by the celebrated artist Maria Philippi for Søholm Pottery on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, in the 1960s.
This piece belongs to the collectible "Bamboo" series, featuring a striking relief decoration that mimics bamboo stalks. The glaze is exceptionally rich, with a combination of glossy blue and earthy brown hues that pool and highlight the texture.
Maria Philippi (1927–2004) worked for Søholm for a short period (1962–1964), making her pieces highly sought after by collectors of Danish ceramics. The series number for this size is 3180/2.Maker's Mark: Stamped on the base: "Søholm Bornholm Stentøj MP 3180/2 Handmade."
