A striking Modernist Stoneware Vase designed in 1969 by the highly celebrated ceramicist Eva Staehr-Nielsen (1911-1976) for Royal Copenhagen, Denmark.
Staehr-Nielsen is one of the most important names in 20th-century Danish ceramics, previously serving as the chief designer at the iconic Saxbo studio. Upon its closure, she joined Royal Copenhagen, bringing a new, edgier, and more rustic style to their stoneware department.
This heavy, substantial vase features a bold, sculptural form, beautifully covered in a rich black glossy glaze. The piece is a factory first and clearly marked with her rare personal impress, making it a critical collector’s item that bridges the legacy of Saxbo with the evolution of Royal Copenhagen.
