This Gutte Eriksen OSA Keramik Vase is a pivotal piece of Scandinavian ceramic history. Produced in 1941 at the short-lived Hareskov studio, this large chamotte vessel represents the earliest collaborative work of Gutte Eriksen (1918–2008) before she rose to international acclaim.
The vase features a robust, modernist form with a striking partial glaze over textured terracotta. This "material-first" approach became the hallmark of Eriksen’s career, which eventually saw her works represented in major museums worldwide. Signed "OSA," this vase is a rare opportunity to own a foundational piece from the dawn of Danish modern studio ceramics.
Historical Significance: One of the few documented pieces from the 1941-1942 collaboration between Gutte Eriksen, Aase Feilberg, and Christian Frederiksen.
The Artist: Gutte Eriksen is a legendary figure in pottery, mentored by Bernard Leach and influenced by Japanese traditions. This is her "Genesis" period.
Texture & Form: The heavy chamotte clay provides a prehistoric, grounded feel, beautifully contrasted by the artisanal partial glazing.
