Faience bottle with its original stopper, designed by the acclaimed Norwegian artist Kari Christensen (1938-1997) for Royal Copenhagen (formerly Aluminia). This piece belongs to the revolutionary Tenera line, a landmark series in Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design.
In 1958, under the direction of artistic director Nils Thorsson, six talented young female artists (the "Tenera Girls") were tasked with revitalizing Aluminia's faience production. Kari Christensen was a key member, known for her bold, graphic, and often whimsical abstract patterns that contrast beautifully with the white tin glaze.
This model, clearly marked 171/2918 and with Christensen’s KC monogram, is a factory first (1st quality). The elegant, small-scale bottle shape with its original cork stopper makes it a charming and relatively rare collectible, perfect for a curated display of Danish modern ceramics.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. Note: As is common with mid-century faience, there is fine crazing in the white glaze, which is typical for the material and considered part of its vintage character.
