A superb and rare Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) Terracotta Vase designed by the sculptor Ove Th. Jørgensen for P. Ipsen's Enke (Ipsen's Widow), Denmark, circa 1918-1919.This commanding vessel, with its wide, sculptural form, represents the very end of the Art Nouveau period in Denmark. The decoration features a striking combination of sculpted brown relief elements set against a vibrant, mottled orange and green background. The contrast of the organic shape and the rich, earthy colors is a hallmark of high-quality Scandinavian Jugendstil.
Ove Th. Jørgensen's contribution to Ipsen's Enke was brief, making pieces signed from his period highly sought after. This vase is a significant piece of Danish ceramic history.
