This delightful Pair of Bird Figurines represents the highly collectible work of Joseph Simon for Søholm Stentøj (Søholm Stoneware), located on the Danish island of Bornholm.3 Simon, educated at the Academy of Art in Vienna, worked with Søholm in the late 1960s, contributing a range of charming and robust animal sculptures.

Crafted from heavy stoneware, these pieces feature a tactile, matte body with subtle, striated glazes, reflecting the trend toward natural materials and earthy palettes in the Mid-Century period. The large size makes them a prominent decorative feature.
