The Piece

An exceptional and rare Just Andersen Disko metal vase, model D20. This sculptural piece is a masterclass in Danish Art Deco, featuring a wide, fluted fan-shaped body supported by a heavy oval base and accented by two elegantly scrolled handles.
The Material: "Disko Metal"
Named after Disko Bay in Greenland where Just Andersen spent his childhood, "Disko metal" is a unique lead-and-antimony alloy invented by the artist. It was designed to mimic the weight and deep, dark patina of ancient bronze while offering a more tactile, satiny finish. 
The Artist
Just Andersen (1884–1943) was one of Denmark’s most influential 20th-century metalworkers. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy, his work bridged the gap between Neoclassicism and Art Deco. His pieces were sold in luxury boutiques from Copenhagen to New York and remain a staple in museum collections worldwide.
