Terracotta sculpture, Eve and the apple designed  by sculptor Kai Nielsen (1882-1924) for Kahler, Denmark.  The white glaze was intentionally made with crazings.
In 1922 Kai Nielsen worked for some months at the Kähler factory in order to develop and produce terracotta figurines in a smaller scale which would fit into private homes. Kahler produced approx 20 models.

Excellent vintage condition, the glaze has some crazing as often seen on these kahler pieces,  Height: 12 inches (31.5 cm).

Kai Nielsen (1882-1924). Kai Nielsen was originally trained as a painter, but soon abandoned the canvas to become a sculptor. He was almost from the beginning a recognized artist, and is currently regarded as the most prominent Danish sculptor in recent times.
