The Royal Copenhagen Tenera Series

This charming small bowl is part of the iconic Tenera faience series, launched by Royal Copenhagen in the mid-20th century. The series was creatively directed by Nils Thorsson and featured designs exclusively from a talented group of young female artists. This particular pattern was designed by Marianne Johnson, whose distinctive work helped define the bold, graphic style of the collection.

Design and Provenance

Crafted from faience (tin-glazed earthenware), the bowl features a vibrant, hand-painted design—a hallmark of the Tenera line. The production date is marked between 1969 and 1974. It serves as a beautiful accent piece, perfectly capturing the spirit of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design.

Authentication

The bowl is a Factory First and is in excellent vintage condition. The base is correctly marked with the Royal Copenhagen backstamp, the pattern number 151/2196, and the initials of the designer, Marianne Johnson.
