Early 'Orkidea' art glass vase designed by Timo Sarpaneva, Iittala, Finland. The vase was exhibited at the 1954 Triennale di Milano, where it was awarded the Grand Prix for outstanding design. This vase is made the same year. Furthermore the American magazine House Beautiful named 'orkidea' the most beautiful object of the year 1954. The price reflects the fact that this vase is one of the earliest piieces marked with the year, it was made, later on the vases were marked with a production number.
Excellent condition, a little wear to the bottom.
