About the Artist
Per Linnemann-Schmidt (1912-1999) was a Danish sculptor who began his training at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen in 1931. Specializing in portrait sculptures, he later transitioned to ceramics, founding the Palshus Stentøj studio in 1949 with his wife, Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt. The couple, along with collaborator Kjeld Jordan, became known for their distinct stoneware, often featuring animal and bird figures. The studio closed in 1972, three years after the death of Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt.
