Eva Englund Orrefors Graal
A Rare "Expo" Graal Masterpiece by Eva Englund for Orrefors
This exquisite, small-scale Graal bowl represents the pinnacle of Swedish glass artistry. Designed by the celebrated Eva Englund (1937–1998) during her prestigious tenure at Orrefors (1974–1990), this piece is part of the "Expo" series—items reserved for exhibitions and specialized collectors.
The Graal Technique: Developed at Orrefors in 1916, the Graal technique is exceptionally labor-intensive. It involves multiple layers of colored glass being cooled, etched or engraved with a pattern, and then carefully reheated and encased in a thick layer of clear crystal. The result is a design that appears to "float" deep within the glass.
