This exceptional vase showcases the mature style of Danish ceramist Jørgen Mogensen (b. 1927), created after he established his private studio with Ursula Printz in 1964. Prior to this, Mogensen spent 15 formative years at Royal Copenhagen, where he pioneered new ceramic techniques and a distinct stoneware expression.

This piece is a powerful example of that innovation, featuring a sculptural form consistent with the Brutalist movement. The rich, rough texture and earthy brown and yellow glazes highlight the raw material and the artist's robust, abstract aesthetic. The individual studio marking, "F359 JM denmark," authenticates this as a personal work of high quality and collectible value.
