A delightful and authentic piece of Danish Mid-Century Modern design: this Tenera Lidded Bowl (or box) was designed in 1958/59 by Berte Jessen as part of the influential Tenera series for Royal Copenhagen, Denmark.
Berte Jessen was one of the talented young Nordic artists chosen by artistic director Nils Thorsson to contribute patterns to the ground-breaking Tenera line, which defined the mid-century aesthetic with its bold, hand-painted patterns on faience (tin-glazed earthenware).
This small, circular box is perfectly sized for use as a trinket box, jewelry storage, or a vide-poche. It features Berte Jessen's distinctive graphic decoration, executed in a palette typical of the Tenera line. The piece is a Factory First and in excellent vintage condition, making it a wonderful collectible item.
