Palshus Chamotte Stoneware Vase by Per Linnemann-Schmidt (c. 1960s)
A stunning example of Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian design, this stoneware vase was created by the renowned Danish artist Per Linnemann-Schmidt for his studio, Palshus Stentøj.
This piece showcases the distinctive Chamotte technique, where coarse, grog (crushed fired clay) is mixed into the stoneware body, giving the surface a wonderfully tactile, textured, and rustic quality.
Design & Glaze: The vase features a clean, organic, and slightly bottle-like form, perfectly complementing the subtle glaze. Shades of light moss green and deeper olive flow across the surface, accented by a delicate, impressed geometric pattern that catches the light.
A sophisticated and grounding piece of Danish studio pottery.
Artist: Per Linnemann-Schmidt (1912-1999) was a talented sculptor who opened Palshus Stentøj in 1949 with his wife, Annelise. Their studio became famous for its refined glazes and signature stoneware pieces until its closure in 1972.
